Can you marry yet?
Short answer (1.0)
Yes. Version 1.0.0 added full marriage. Romance is available with villagers marked single on their Social tab.
Key unlocks (community wiki)
| Step | What you need |
|---|---|
| Friendship climb | Talk (+7/day) + gifts (1/day) |
| Heart events | Commonly at 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 hearts for candidates |
| Dating vs Best Friend | At the 8-heart event, choose romantic route or platonic best-friend route |
| Engagement recipe | At 10 hearts while dating, Elsie visits the farm and teaches the Engagement Ring recipe |
| Craft gate | Engagement Ring needs a material that requires Mines level 90 |
| Propose | Hold the ring → unique Discuss prompt → propose or postpone |
| Wedding | Pick a date (earliest 5 days later) → customize ceremony → full wedding day cutscene |
| After | Spouse moves into the farmhouse; furniture mail next day; children talk ~2 weeks later |

You can date multiple candidates and see proposal-related events before locking the final marriage—useful if you want each candidate’s special pre-marriage item.

Best beginner-friendly romances
These are efficiency picks, not “canon best characters”:
- Celine — if your farm already produces flowers
- Reina — if you live in the kitchen
- March — if mines are your main loop
- Hayden — if ranching/golden products are online
- Valen — if you want a straightforward town schedule romance
How to choose without overthinking
- Talk to everyone for 3 in-game days.
- Note who you want to open dialogue with.
- Only then dump Loved gifts.
- If two people tie, date both lightly until the game asks you to commit.
Step-by-step relationship path
Phase 1 — Recognition (Week 1)
- Meet them; learn rough schedules
- Talk daily when convenient
- Gift Liked items; save scarce Loved gifts
- Keep farm chores sustainable (First Week)
Phase 2 — Friendship foundation
- Maintain daily talk + gift rhythm
- Watch for heart events at 2/4/6
- Budget gold for gifts (Money Making)
Phase 3 — Dating choice (around 8 hearts)
- Complete the 8-heart event
- Choose Romantic or Best Friend route
- Continue gifts/talks on the path you picked
Phase 4 — Engagement & marriage (10 hearts + craft)
- Reach 10 hearts while dating
- Get Engagement Ring recipe from Elsie
- Reach the craft requirement (Mines 90 material)
- Craft ring → Discuss → propose or wait
- Set wedding date (min +5 days) and optional ceremony customizations
- Wedding day is mostly a guided cutscene (town helps with chores)
- Spouse moves in; expect post-marriage furniture and later family discussion
